    TRIALS TIRES

    by ocliff4 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 6:30 pm

I just recived the new issue of dirt rider magazine,
and there is an article on trials tires.and have come
to realize that I may have been wrong when I argued
with my father all those years ago when I was young
and could not be told otherwise,(you know the ages of
teenage years when one knows all about everything!)
anyone out there run one of these tires??if so how did
it perform??Im thinking I might give it a try!!

Oh man....don't get Doug going. Definitely do a search on this one. There is tons of info. I don't think there have been a lot of people on this site that have used them, but for those who have, I understand the tires are pretty nice.

I have a KTM I'm going to try one on when the current tire is done. Also, I recorded the most recent Last Man Standing race and have re-watched it many times. I did notice, on several of the bikes in that race, that they were using trials tires.

I figure if those guys were using them in the snowy mud of Texas, and considering it was an "invitation only" race (translated: BEST IN WORLD RIDERS,) I'm thinking there is something to those tires.

Recently, Roady tested a Dunlop 803 on his bike. Reported good things except a skatey feeling at high speed. Look at this thread:

I am a real fan of the trials tires , they do have some really good attributes. They're not the best for every type of terrain and condition, but no knobby is either so there are trade-offs.
Also, I recorded the most recent Last Man Standing race and have re-watched it many times. I did notice, on several of the bikes in that race, that they were using trials tires.

To me, that is a big deal.
For the money, and considering how long they last and if most of the riding being done is off-road they're worth a try. Doug
