Can I take the black covers off the forks? If they are there to keep dirt out, could I still take em off as long as I kept em clean?

I would recommend you leave them on, they are there to keep dirt and grime away from your fork seals.

you can take them off, but you need to put seal savers in its place. they are are shorter and cover the seals.

You can get seal savers at www.sealsavers.com or on www.rockymountainatv.com .

    Seal Savers

    by normb359 » Fri Dec 31, 2004 6:55 pm

Just posted a pic of one of the bikes that has the Seal Savers installed.
We had one bike that had torn boots. Honda wants about $18.00 each for replacements and the seal savers were about $18.00.

They work real well. I just have to remember what size I ordered. ( I have a hard time remembering which side is the front of my shorts)

    ( 36-43mm Fork Tube, Black, Short )
I think this is the right one, because we had to stretch the seal over the bottom tube.
