    Aluminum specs in oil

    by AZShane » Tue Mar 31, 2020 8:47 pm

Hey all I bought a 2006 CR80F for my 11 year old son. It runs and sounds like a solid bike. I finally got around to changing the oil today and found a ton of aluminum specs in the oil. I ran three quarts of oil through it and the specs were still coming out while draining the oil...less specs but still there. What are some internal aluminum parts that could be wearing? I plan on changing the oil a few more times or maybe even figure out a way to flush the case to see if it clears up. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello and welcome.
More than likely it is clutch basket particles. Maybe the oil did not get changed very often from the previous owner. I cannot really see much in the photo and some Al glitter is not something to get too worried about. Change the oil every couple good rides for a time or two. If nothing is feeling or sounding out of order you will be fine.
