    150f won't start

    by Infectedbowl28 » Sun Dec 11, 2016 3:01 pm

Hello, I have a crf150f and I snapped the throttle cable a month ago. I got a new one this week, but now it won't start.... I tried pulling it with a quad to start it but, it didn't work. The interesting part is that when I put the choke on it revved really high.... Any suggestions? Bike has had many owners, but hasn't changed elevation much. Please help.

If you don't know it's history and it now won't start maybe time for a service.

Fresh plug and fuel can do wonders.

You say you pulled choke on it revved - so it starts on choke but won't idle when off?

I would be betting on a clogged up pilot jet, but you need to work out where the problem lies.

    Still won't start?
You need to work out if it is electrical, fuelling or compression problem.

Do you have spark when you kick it over?
Does the spark plug electrode get wet with fuel when trying to start?
If the plug is dry try putting a cap of fuel down the plug hole and try starting.

Try above and post back what you find.

well I tried and the plug did come out dry... So I put a bit of gas in the cylinder but it just revved as if I had the choke on... I did make sure to try turning down the idle before hand.

So with either the choke on or fuel poured down plug hole the engine fires, is this correct?

If this is the case then check if the fuel is getting to the fuel bowl on the carby.

if fuel is making it to the carby the you would have to suspect a blockage in the idle jet or passages.

You will need to check/clean and see what that does for you.
