Kill switch to new tether problems

    by mitchell55 » Thu Feb 18, 2016 1:40 pm

07 CRF 450X. Bought the bike running and had been modified for supermoto racing. Headlight delete and no battery or rear taillight. I removed the kill switch Black/white and Black/green wires and installed a tether directly to these wires. wrong I guess, no spark now. I tried both BL/W to white then black on tether and BL/G on Black and what not. removed tether and tried to find the stock kill button to no avail. how do go about looping or bypassing the switch to allow spark again. clutch switch works and new battery turns starter easy. I need to ice race this weekend and a new button is Monday at the earliest. checked the wiring and connections at coil already.

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

Not sure if the Canadian models are wired differently than the U.S. models , but in my Factory Honda Service Manual , it shows Black/White and Black/Green going TO the kill switch , which then goes to ground(Black/Green is Ground) , the Black/Brown goes TO the Clutch Switch and Black/Red comes OUT of the clutch switch and goes TO starter relay

So i would think to make a Tether work you would need to go from the Black/White TO Ground , which would act like the kill button , at least that is the way i see it , since Black/White goes to the ICM , which would cut the spark if grounded *guessing* ....

It would either be you GROUND the Tether to kill the engine , or you BREAK THE CIRCUIT by disrupting the power to the ICM , it would have to work one of the 2 ways
