    Jetting too much?

    by kyle7683 » Tue Oct 01, 2013 7:38 am

I have a 2004 crf150F and I installed the power up kit and power up needle from this site, I used to the 42 pilot and 115 main, with the needle on the 4th setting from the top. I have a bog when full throttle is applied. Is the 115 too big? Is the needle in the wrong setting? I can't seem to figure this one out.
    Thanks guys
    Kyle

    Hey Kyle,

Did you do the rest of the CCC mods?
Open the airbox, less restrictive air filter, and remove or modify the exhaust baffle?

The power up needle works best with these additional modifications as the bike now needs to breathe better.

You should also consult the jetting database on this site to see what others at your altitude and temperature range are running. Keep in mind that every individual bike can be a little different from other 150fs, so you may have to experiment a little. Luckily, the main can be accessed easily from the bottom of the carb if I remember right.

If you're not going to do the CCC mods, then you'll need to drop 1 size in the main and see what happens.

Additionally, did you happen to purchase an externally adjustable fuel screw? You don't have to have this, but it does make adjustment easier for fine tuning, but I don't think it will affect your WOT bog, just around the idle rpms.

Yes I did do the other CCC mods. I removed the snorkle, installed a high flow air filter and drilled out the stock exhaust baffle. I have also purchased and installed the adjustable fuel screw. Im 300 ft above sea level for elevation and the temperature is an average of 60-70 degrees recently in central NJ.

Then you'll probably want to drop the main to the next smaller size...
