too many kicks to start crf250

    by Dirtysaul » Sun Jun 10, 2012 5:16 pm

    Hey guys,

Everyone's always saying how their bikes take 1 or 2 kicks to start (even cold). My 2010 crf250 with less than 25hrs on it is up to around 4 kicks to start now (cold). Does this mean something is not working 100%?? What should I be checking at this point? Let me know, thanks.

The valves on these bikes like to get out of spec after a little while..adjust your valve timing ;)

Damn, already? Most talk about how their honda's go up to 100hrs before valves need adjusting. That would be a little dissapointing if that's the case. Thanks for the info though.

most do...however, it's a good thing to check the clearance to eliminate this as the cause.

4 kicks cold is normal on an EFI bike. Takes 2 kicks to build up the electricity to power the fuel pump + 1 or 2 more to fire. Still not a bad idea to check valves.
