any old 10w40 that isn't energy conserving. I use the Honda stuff, it's more expensive but it only takes a quart.

What do you mean by energy conserving.

Oil that is "energy conserving" has friction modifiers in it that will cause your clutch to slip.

If it has a label like this

Don't use it.

Look for one with a label like this

FYI but you will never see a grade 40 oil that is marked as energy conserving. the API reserves the 'Energy Conserving' label for grade 30 oils and below.

Does the crf100f have a fuel and oil filter.

The fuel filter will be the screen in the petcock assembly which requires removing the petcock and you will have two tall inlets [ primary and reserve] that are screened. As for the oil filter it sounds like you need to get yourself an owners manual to get all the information and torque specs.

You can get one at your local Honda dealer and they are available on the web at various locations. I'd reccomend staying with the Honda factory service manual. They tend to be a bit more thorough than the Clymer manuals.

I searched CRFsOnly and didn't see one listed but I'd bet they would be able to get you one as well.

o thanks, does the k&n filter help alot with performance.

idk about "alot" of performance gains but it would help a little.
oh and i have a question myself: does this bike have a fuel filter? i didnt think that it did but from what is posted from above it sounds like it does.

Not an actual stand alone fuel filter, just the petcock screen on the inside of the tank.

Just dropping in a K&N filter is not going to do anything for performance. It may actually decrease perfromance.

What's the situation with your bike? Bone stock, no modifications?

My bike is bone stock but i don't want to put a lot of money into it because i am selling it in about 1/2 to a year.

Skip the K&N filter. It won't really gain you anything. Going one up on the pilot jet will help it out a little bit as they are pretty lean in the stock jetting.
