I installed a JD Jet Kit into my 2005 CRF250R and it worked great, however, I am getting a ton of deceleration popping. The kit said to install the 170 main jet, but I think I saw a post where james dean himself said to install the 175 for sea level to 3,000 above. Anyone have any ideas for me where to start? It didn't pop like this prior to the jet kit.

I've read in several places on this forum that decel popping can be (among other things) a result of too small or restricted pilot jet (not the main jet) because during decel throttle is off, jet needle is down therefore the main jet is not the active circuit...Anyone else??

Yes, fuel screw and Pilot are the culprit of decel pop. Or a leak somewhere like an airboot causing a lean condition.

try opening you fuel screw up. Dont go more than 2.5 turns. If you need to go more than that then go up one size on your pilot.

Also richer jetting is required for lower elevation. So the 175 might be right.

I just backed out the fuel screw a quarter turn. I will run it tomorrow and see if it goes away. If not i will try 1/2 a turn. If not then I am bumping up to a 175 main jet. I will let you know tomorrow how this works out.

The main jet has zero effect on decel pop.

So what is your recommendation? I was told adjust the fuel screw out to make it richer and see if that takes care of it. Does that sound right to you? The people at JD Jetting told me to look for air leaks. I was like no exhaust leaks anywhere, it is just popping like a son of a gun.

Well it is crappy out, so I am hoping it clears up so I can run the bike and see if it works out. I will keep you posted, no pun intended.
