    FMF powerbomb question

    by Monkeywrench » Sat Feb 17, 2007 7:52 pm

Ken couple quick questions for you on exhaust once again (I trying to narrow something down, and I think I'm close).

In the online store in the 250R forum, when you click on the FMF powerbomb there's 2 choices (low-end torque boost, and mid to high boost). Will either of these fit onto the 250X and mate up with the E2 muffler?

The 2nd question is this (more of an opinion I guess) - with the stage 1 Hotcam I'm using, would the torque boost powerbomb be more appropriate (if that one fits and will work with the E2)? Just not sure which one to go with. How much difference is there between the 2 models - is it something you can notice, or maybe something which shows up moreso on test equipment?

Finally, in the 250X store, which of these types is the powerbomb for the X -- the low end boost, or mid and upper boost? I have heard comments about the stock header on the X being a good design for torque, and was wondering where the powerbomb might be different than stock. My goal (without changing gearing) is to get 3rd gear more "track-worthy", which maybe leans toward the "more torque" choice of the 2 FMF headers?? :? Currently it's as if unless I whine 2nd gear pretty hard going into 3rd, the switch to 3rd is kind of luggish down the low rpm's. Maybe that wide-ratio X trans gearing... man I wish I had just gotten the R in '04.

Lotsa questions - I sure appreciate your help.
Hey, is anyone running the powerbomb with Hotcam and E2? What's it like?
    Thanks boys.

these are one of those questions that no one will know the answer to unless they have physically tried it. unfortunately, i haven't tried it so i can't say. wait i can say is fmf would have it listed as 250X compatible if they had tried it and my guess would have tried it to increase their market base.

IF, and that's a big IF, they fit it would depend on whether or not you are looking for more torque than the stage 1 cam is offering you. if so, yes.

it's for more low-end and mid-range torque while not negatively affecting the top end power.

    hope this helps.

Thanks Ken, I think I going to choose the 250X powerbomb header... since it's designed for more torque, and that's probably the choice I'd make if I ordered the 250R powerbomb anyways.

    Thanks again,
