Looks good. If I may make a sugggestion....re route that front brake line to the inside of the fork leg. You dont want it snagging on anything or damaged in a fall.

How much too short is your brake hose? It looks like you could pull it up another 2-3cm at the clamp on the fork guard. It that still isn't long enough, you should check ebay for a 250X or 450X brake hose - they are longer than the R models because they go up and over the back of the headlight (the same way you have yours routed) instead of across the front of the number plate.

I brought a CR125 2003 brake line its about an inch shorter than the 230F OEM brake line.

I'll measure my 450X brake hose tonight and also measure the 250R brake hose I have. I think a X hose will be what you are looking for.

I don't have a 230 brake hose to measure, but my wife's 230 has CR85 forks and a CR125 brake hose. The hose is 50 inches (127cm) long and fits perfect. I measured my CRF250R brake hose and it is the same length. I measured my 450X brake hose and it is 56 inches (142cm).

Looking at your photos, you have taller bar clamps - I think a X brake hose will be plenty long.

please note I do have issues if i ridge the bike of a surface more than 1m high that the forks bottom out onto the fender as the crf150r fender has a lower ridge in the middle of it.

the 230f fender has no issues

I gather you mean when the forks are fully compressed the tyre catches on the guard? Or is it catching on the fork guards when compressed?

yea the forks have 5 weight oil i am going to put 7.5 weight in them so I dont need to do the valves for some reason the fendor for a 150R that I used ocasionally bottons out the forks and the tire rubs on gard and the forks are left with about 1/2 and inch of travel.


Some people say doing this is a waste of time but i love it its makes the bike sooo much more stable and handles so much better i am as fast as most CRF250 riders now and faster than 150R's.

done about 60hrs with all the mods so far.

I just did a parts lookup for my old 2005 CRF 230F steering stem bearing verses a new 2014 CRF 250L steering stem bearing. Guess what? They both use the same part number.

So, I'm guessing that the head tube is the same as it's always been. If so, then one can purchase the upper triple clamp and lower triple with steering stem pressed, and use their same bearings. All's that's left is a set of 43mm inverted forks, (which are everywhere) and a new front wheel and axle.

Upper and lower triples with stem will run somewhere around $133.00. Just swap these out with your old ones. Slide in some 43mm inverted fork tubes, new front wheel hub... Good to go.

excellent! let me know what you find. also, we are going to be stocking a new aftermarket triple clamp set for the CRF250L. that would be great if it fit the 230F as well.
