Looks like I am a bit late to post here but better late than never...
I'll be 32 next month. I have ridden street bikes for almost 15 years now. When I was younger I was to afraid of trying to ride dirt bikes. I know it sounds silly, but there you go (I think I was just confused about when you should be in what gear, and just didn't learn then like I should have).
I recently got myself a 2004 crf50f and just a few days ago gave it the first official moderate beating of its mechanical life (and it beat me right back... I am sore!).
So far I am loving the off-road scene and I look forward to more trails and tracks, and to meeting new people in the process.

I'm 50 (eeeek!) and a grad student in clinical psychology at Purdue University (ranked 10th in the nation this week!!!). Yes, this is a career change; I was in corporate communications until three years ago.

I took up dirt biking just six weeks ago when I bought my '03 230. Even at this moment, I am sitting here with a cold pack on the huge bruise I got on the trail last Sunday. But I'm enjoying the challenge of learning this new sport (and I'm going shopping for guards and protectors tomorrow :) )

    two thumbs up, girl!

    no cold pack!
    heat pack!
you do not want to slow circulation on a bruise except on a VERY fresh one, before it gets colored, you can prevent building up a big hematoma by slowing circulation
once it shows you want to speed circulation to have it dissolve as fast as possible

Bpamp say you have a psych degree? what classes did you take. my dad has an associates degree in a couple including: intro to psych, abnormal psych, and like 4 more. He also has a BA in Safety & hazardous material with a minor in Psychology. he has a fairly large collection of books including those of: Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Steven Franzoi's Social Psychology (which i am currently reading), and many others!

    Ev and Hondafan:

Ev, I kind of wondered if I had it backwards. It stands to reason the blood needs to keep moving and get outta there. The blue part is huge and there's a big bump where I got hit. Youch!. I'm going to switch to hotpack now.

Hondafan, "Go Dad" is right. Psych classes are hard. I know because I'm teaching abnormal psychology right now. Yikes! So you are interested in Social Psych, eh? I haven't taken my social psych classes yet... Maybe you are planning to major in psychology in college?

well just like you said "psychology courses are hard" i dont think you could have been any more right! I will try to read some of his books and i just dont understand! what do you think about "psychoanalysis"?
Abnormal Psych? abnormal phobias, emotions etc. am i on the right path? Mrs Bpamp since you are the teacher, tell us, is "what you think and what you feel" two different things?

he has one: Thomas F. Oltmanns, Robert E. Emery's Abnormal Psychology.
i am very into Social Psych.

about the college degree, i hath given it thought.

i think you are the only teacher i know of that rides. GO BPAMP!

    Hondafan,

Yes, what you think and what you feel are two different things. Many psychologists believe that what you think determines what you feel.

Yes, Abnormal Psych covers anxieties, depression, schizophrenia, and all that. Oltmann & Emery's book is very similar to the one I use.

Hey, I saw on the other thread that you are getting a Bowflex. You must be serious about bulking up!

Hope you had a chance to ride this weekend, Hondafan.

I'm from Ohio but stationed in Virginia at the moment. I am 26 and have been riding pretty much anything with 2 wheels since I was 16. I used to work for a couple large motorcycle dealerships as a mechanic, so, obviously, I got to ride everything from lawnmowers to Hyabusa's. I have a '99 Honda Cr125R, but wanting (and needing) an '05 CRF250F.

Hi Im from northeast Georgia and Im 29. I started riding when I was 11 on an old indian 70cc trail bike (wish i still had that thing) then moved to a cr80 the a 125. When I turned 16 I got a ninja 600 and forgot all about the dirt. For the last 13 years I have only rode sport bikes. Started riding dirtbikes again about 6 weeks ago and now I wish I never stopped. I just need to find time to balance riding on the street and the dirt. When Im not playing on 2 wheels Im a police officer.

Im 37 and currently live in NV. I started riding bikes when I was 6. Rode and raced desert in So Cal district-37 events until I was 16. Stopped riding around that time frame due to various reasons and missed it for many years. Got married, had babies, couldnt afford a pot to piss in...yada, yada. Finally after my wife convinced me to quit moving all over the country from job to job we settled down and bought a house so I bargained with her to buy bikes as well since she was getting a new house and furniture :D That was three years ago..since then my youngest had outgrown two bikes and is on a 230 now. My oldest went off to college and I sold his 125. And I bought a 450X so he could ride my 450R when he comes home to visit. And my wife loves to ride her quad with us on our adventures! Lifes good!
