You can reuse them , but , if you get a complete rebuild kit (a little spendy but worth it) it will have all new jets , a new needle , and gaskets (they are in the $40.00 range) , some kits like All Balls Rebuild Kit even comes with a new fuel screw made for easier adjustments (it is one of the $40.00 kits) ......

Blow the pilot jet hole out with compressed air and a shot of carb cleaner.

The only jet that has anything to do with starting and idling is the pilot. Set the fuel screw to 1 7/8 turns out and leave it alone.

A ten pack of #45 pilot jets is less than $15 shipped to your house. This carb cleaning is a rite of passage every spring for thousands of carb'd bike owners. Changing to a new jet is the way to go. I suspect that the pilot passage where it goes into the carb bell is gummy.

Change to a 165 main jet once the bike is running. The NVCS needle is fine. It will clean itself, if it is dirty, once the bike is running. A steady high velocity stream of fuel running over it has a great solvent effect.

I have a Rekluse also. It does take away the bump start option.

By the way, to make this super easy, shut off the gas and lay the bike down on its right side. You will now be staring right into all of the stuff that you are cleaning. You don't need to remove the carb or buy gaskets. This cleaning takes 10 minutes.

Do you do that while it's on the bike? Are you talking about the hole in the brass pilot jet, or the hole in the carb above where the pilot jet sits?

Pulled out the needle jet today, it was full of crap, I'd be willing to bet that ethanol varnish is up somewhere it shouldnt be blocking flow.

    Hi Fletch,
I would dare say above the jet, but do both while you are in there.
The passages get crud just as you have found.

Idle jet passages can just wick up a drop, then it goes solid.

I get it even with non ethanol fuel if I leave it a few months.

I am surprised it doesn't cause more grief with FI bikes but probably doesn't get to dry out.

It starts,it runs,it gets to where all CRFs can get to without the valve or valve plate dramas

While I was in there tonight, I gave a blast of carb cleaner up where the pilot sits and up around the needle while I had the needle jet and main jet out. Still not firing. Seems like the next step is a full disassembly of the lower portion of the carb.

Yea , it seems to be gummed up pretty bad , I think you are going to have to do a dip ..... just make sure to remove all the rubber parts and take everything out , including the slide ........ I use Berrymans Carb Dip , you can get it at any auto parts store , it is a 1 gallon can with a dip basket in it .....it will most likely need to soak for a while , then rinse it out with either water from the hose , or spray parts cleaner (like brake cleaner spray) , then blow it out real good with sir .... you should noticeably see the gunk gone , if you can still see crud , dip it again .. then do as Leardriver said , and get new jets (you can get individual jets at your dealer or most any bike shop ...................

You might have to disassemble the middle of the carb as well , if so you can get the gaskets for it separately (they don't usually come in a rebuild kit) , I know Ken sells them here https://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/produc ... ts_id/4592 ....... you will need a 2.5 mm Allen wrench to separate the body halves , at the 4 corners of the mid body joint , if you are careful , you can save the seals/gaskets/O-rings ..........

Taking apart the carb still won't clean out the pilot passage. Put a long skinny blower nozzle into the pilot passage above the jet with the jet removed. I probe mine gently with a metal dental pick. Spray carb cleaner up there, scratch it with a pick, and blow compressed air up there for 10 seconds. When you hear air blowing into the interior carb bell, you will have fuel flow.
