Preparing to buy my son his first dirt bike, and the CRF125F seems to fit him perfect. Just researching a bit, and was surprised to see the CRF100 had a 22mm carb, the CRF150 has a 24mm carb...and the CRF125 has a 20mm(?)

I know my history with motorcycles and my son will be the same way (yeah it will end up with aftermaket exhaust and other parts). Just wondering if anyone has experimented with a larger carb for better top end on these little bikes.

Well...I'll answer my own question. I spoke with Frank Nye from Engine's Only in San Jose. He said the carburetor from a CRF150F should be a direct swap onto the CRF125F. He has done similar swaps with a flat slide Mikuni 24mm on to the CRF125F, and it worked great. My plan in the next year is to swap for Nye's CRF125F exhaust and the 24mm Keihin on the bike.
