    New bike, questions

    Hi Guys,

Just got a 13' CRF250L with 700 miles on the clock as a daily rider and light off-roader. It's my first dual purpose bike and a lot different then what I've been riding lately. Rode it about 90 miles home and have been getting acquainted ever since, about 200 miles at this point. I like it but am thinking of tweeking it just a bit and have a few questions about what works and what doesn't. The engine seems to be loosening up a bit in the time that I've had it but it still lacks low end power and doesn't seem to have too much on the top end either. I'm considering going to a 13 tooth engine sprocket but not sure how that will work on a bike that's 90% on the road. What's the consensus of guys who've used the 13 tooth for a while?

I saw a product review for a breather tube conversion but it wasn't clear if it would work on the L model. Also, while it seems like a good idea, there is no mention of incorporating a one-way valve on the vent line to lower crankcase pressure to the point of a drawing a slight vacuum. I don't know anything about Honda engines but this works well on some other engines and I would have thought this would be done on the racing engines like the CBF250R. Anyone experimented with this?

What is the best tire for an L that spends most of it's life on the road? Looks like the choice is a bit limited in the stock size.

I appreciate any tips from other L owners.

Hello and welcome. Same situation here. Got the bike with only 400 miles on it and started to "personalize it". Ordered black plastics for it, got smaller mirrors (didn't like the look of the giant elephant looking stock mirrors) rear fender elimination kit, chain and front sprocket guard and ordered stainless steel brakelines. Had to get rid of the ugly rubber hose huge front brake line. Im also 90% on the road and wanted to get Warp 9 wheels with street tires, but that will have to wait a while. As for the 13 front sprocket SR Moto sells a package deal with the FMF pipe, EFI tuner, and sprocket. Hear it really wakes the bike up. Best of luck with the bike I'll keep ya posted with pictures and updates while they come.
