    Hole in lower casing

Hello friends. Looking for some advice here. I noticed my 250x leaking a bit of tranny oil on the garage. I changed the shifter seal thinking that was it, but still more dripping. The other day I took the front sprocket off and found this dandy little repair job. Looks like someone used a good bit of jb weld to seal it up and sell it to some sucker.. like me! The hole is where there was a thread for the front sprocket cover. Probably the stress of that thread caused the weld to fail. I'm wondering how difficult it would be to replace the lower engine casing. I imagine it's a total rebuild to do this? I just had the top end done too. Maybe I should just reinforce the jb weld and hope for the best?

The most I've done on my bikes is a big bore upgrade, but never torn things down much below that, save for a clutch job.

    Your advice is most welcome.

Replacing the case is probably the textbook answer, but it doesn't pass the justifiable expenditure test on an older bike. We've all been there.

Cleaning and packing that hole full of JB Weld would not be the horrible hack that it sounds like. It may just work great and do the job.
