    Bike won't idle.

I could use a little direction and advice. I have been trying to sort out my bike, but I have been struggling. I can't get it to kick start or electric start, but if I roll it down a hill and pop the clutch it will start. Once it's running, it has a couple of issues. First, it won't idle. It's almost like it has a high idle and a low idle, and the idle adjustment screw doesn't seem to change the idle. Second, the bike runs fine when it's faster than an idle. However, after 10 or 15 minutes, it acts like it runs out of gas and dies.

I have done the following to try to sort it out...
    1) new pistons and rings
    2) I had a machine shop rebuild the head
    3) cleaned out the jets

Any thoughts or direction would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It is possible that there is a internal blockage in the carb , and "cleaning " the jets does not necessarily mean they are "clean" , it does not take much dirt (you could still see thru the jet) and a Pilot jet can still be clogged enough to cause issues .... it can also be the vent line for the gas cap , it will cause the bike to struggle , it is always better to just replace the Pilot jet rather than clean it , the main jet , you can clean .... also the needle jet can cause inconsistent issues like idling up/down , things like that , but not so much dying or hard to start , just more of inconsistent idling (Needle jet is what your Main Jet is screwed into , the long brass tube , the needle wears on it and ovals it out causing inconsistent running , easy stalling , and a idle that will not stay set where you adjust it to)

Also the Accelerator Pump could be not working or bleeding back into the bowl (with the subframe lifted , or the carb off the bike) , give it a full throttle twist , and look at the back of the opening of the carb , you will see a small brass jet sticking out , it is small like a blunt toothpick , there should be a solid squirt of gas coming from it when you work the throttle (with the bowl full of gas) , it should just barely miss the slide , and be a full stream , not spitting gas in spurts , and not hitting the slide

Those would be the remaining "fuel" related issues that might cause your symptoms .... another cause could be electrical , but eliminate all fuel related possibilities first
