    What's up with FMF?

    by Mentch171 » Sat May 09, 2020 4:36 am

I'm looking for an FMF for my '17 250x. Specifically part number 041201 Ti Powercore. I can't find them anywhere? Anyone have any sources?

I checked FMF's site , and it shows "Out of Stock" , so it is possible it is now discontinued ..... Have you tried contacting FMF directly ??? . that will give you the best answer ...... as all I can surmise is that either they have sold out and are in limited production because of what is going on so supplies are limited to whatever retailer actually has one , or they simply discontinued it as I mentioned ......

No I didn’t contact FMF directly yet. I saw both exhausts they now offer on the site for the 250x were out of stock. I figured I’d find it somewhere in stock online but no luck yet.

Just about to give up looking and I found a new one for sale on EBay. It’s ordered!

I'll say! I emailed FMF right before I found this one but I don't expect a prompt reply given what's going on with businesses right now. I gave it one last search on EBay and found it. I was very surprised it was the TI Powercore that I wanted. Now I just hope it's not too loud #-o

I was gearing up to look for a different brand exhaust. I've been away from dirt bike exhaust buying for a very long time. I don't know much about them lately. I thought this FMF would be a good choice. Glad I found it.

Scratch that. The seller cancelled the sale. The ad was outdated. I’m still searching. If I don’t hear from FMF I’ll have to look to another brand.

Well that sucks .... I have had that happen on EBay myself , the guy said he hit the wrong button but never relisted the item , so I went elsewhere ..

Hopefully FMF will get back to you 8-[

FMF never replied to my email. That's one of my pet peeves with businesses that have a "contact us" link. If they can't respond in a timely manner I tend to start to look elsewhere. I guess that comes from me owning my own business for 25 years. Anyway, I called FMF and got what seemed some strange info. They are no longer making the 4.1 system for the CRF250x. That's a newer exhaust than the one I was looking for and they quit making it already? Didn't make sense to me. I then emailed CRF's Only and asked what they could tell me. Sounds like FMF is having trouble keeping up with demand and a discontinued bike like the 250x isn't on the top of their to do list. I then asked about the full Yoshimura system and they said "We do have the RS-2 full system and slip-on available. Our personal opinion is Yosh's build quality is superior and in most cases they out perform the FMF.". I guess I'll go with the Yoshi.

Well , that sucks .... and I agree with Ken , the Yosh system is what Factory Honda uses , so there must be something to it , and the fact that they are making it for the older gen bikes is a plus , but yea , it's getting harder to find people making stuff since the new gen bikes have been out , it seems that is all they want to focus on ...... at least you are not like me and trying to find parts for my 02 CRF450R ..... not much available for it anymore either :(

Being a big FMF fan from the time Donnie started the company back in the 70's, I am no longer. I bought a FMF pipe for my YZ250 about 6 years ago and the quality was absolutely atrocious. I sent it back and will not buy FMF ever again.
