Local bike shop is ademeant that it will do harm to the 250X if the battery is removed and attempt to ride the bike? Sounds odd to me (since my battery is dead anyway). I prefer the kick start and want to get rid of the unwanted weight of this battery.

What say the experts?

many have done it without problems, including myself. u do need to remove the wiring harness on the left side of the airbox and disconnect the rear light.
