    by brett596 » Fri Jan 05, 2007 6:40 pm

We been having a cold winter so far. I went out and tried to start my bike after a month of sitting and it wont start up. I put more gas in it since it was almost out. Last time i parked my bike i left the fuel on, but i dont know whats going on with it. Can anyone help me out? thanks.

Are you choking it? The carb I mean...

Hold the bike at an angle so that gas runs out of the overflow tube. (Make sure gas is getting to the carb and the float is not stuck)

After a month you may very well have a clogged pilot jet. I suggest removing it and cleaning it out if what AS suggested doesn't do it.

The fuel these days goes bad very quickly. As a precaution , in the future, close your fuel petcock and drain the floatbowl completely when allowing the bike to sit more than two weeks.

Personally, I always run the gas out of my bike when I am done riding it. Far less chance of problems when it sits!
