Pink-wire mod question

Hey Guys, first: Merry Christmas. I know the more politically correct phrase is Season's Greetings, or Happy Holidays, but for those of us who celebrate Christmas... (plus, I notice people who say Merry Christmas tend to get more presants for some reason???

On the pink-wire mod... I have done this, and do notice more "hit" -- it's nice! Like others I'm not certain exactly what it does to the timing map, but I gotta say it goes real nicely with the Hotcam. Rips great coming around turns.
Question: I was just curious if this is considered one of the closed-course mods, as well as wondering if this is a stock condition on the CRF250R. Does the R model not have a rev limiter or the famous "pink wire"? Curious about this. Or maybe the R model does have a rev limiter, but different timing???
Comment: Just read the other day how the rev limiter functions, I think someone here posted it. That's pretty ingenious - something about how it skips firing the plug every other power stroke. Pretty neato.
