    by Crf450x2012 » Tue Nov 10, 2020 4:06 pm

    Hi,

    I put a new crank shaft, main bearings, piston, cylinder and piston rings all are new and STD from honda
    My question is do i have to gap the piston rings ??
    I kinda put them all together and run the engine on idle for few minutes /;
    Thank you (:

    Hello, by "Gap the rings" I believe you are referring to checking the end gaps installed and possibly grinding the ends to spec?
    If that is what you are asking - the answer is no. If you did a cylinder measure and have the correct piston and ring set you should be fine. It always pays to inspect and check everything as you go together but if you did not you will be fine.

    As for a new build run in - 2 or three heat cycles and let it rip.
