Own a pair of alpinestars tech 8's and the lack of movement and clean sole means im looking for a second pair. Are tech 3's the way to go or other brands???

Are your Tech 8s broken in? The reason I ask is that they are an awesome trail boot. Spend some time hiking in them and make adjustments to your shifter if necessary.
I'd try to make the Tech 8s work as they are a much better boot than the Tech 3s.

yeah there broken in bought them off a friend who injured his knee so snapped them up. I sometimes miss my gear change and when going up wet rocky hills they got no grip to pull bike out of ruts and stuff.

I have the Tech 7's. Never had any problem with them. They broke in very quick, are comfortable and the red and black look awesome with the CRF.

yes when you buy a boot you need to take in to account the conditions where you ride. some boots are no good for enduro. these are mostly mx or sx boots and are great in those conditions you could swap for some fox comp 5s ect
