    GPS

    by Kap » Sun Apr 03, 2011 7:44 pm

Well I'm finally gonna break down and get a GPS unit. Anyone selling one. Suggestions, experience? I'm sure there's a thread somewhere.

We use a Garmin 60Cx. It works great. We purchased additional maps that have all of the Michigan ORV trails on them and Garmin City Navigator so it can be used as a routable on road GPS as well. We use a RAM mount to mount it to the handlebar.

    Very happy with the setup!

i've moved this to the GPS forum. you might want to check out the new Trail Tech Voyager. here's a link:

it gives you GPS capabilities along with Trail Tech computers functions. if you plan on dual use, in other words hiking, cycling, boating then the Voyager isn't the right solution. in this case check into Garmin's line of GPS systems.

what are you hoping to do with a GPS? may sound like a silly question but there's a wide range of uses. 1. track where you've been. 2. map out a course to follow. 3. avoid getting lost. are just a few things. do you have other needs?

Thanks Ken, I want to do most of what you wrote with GPS. Track, upload dual sport rides, and basic trip meter odometer. Voyager looks reasonable.

Looks great, does that mount come with it? Do you have to use the sensor and cable?

The mount was seperate only $20.00 I have not installed the speedo sensor and cable, so far the GPS speedo is working just fine. I'll let you know once I get it in the woods.
