Mcnutt Mt and fall from a bridge

    by neila » Tue Nov 09, 2010 7:29 pm

Landed up in the ER following this fall from a narrow bridge. Fell 6 ft into an icy rock filled creek. Definitely could have been worse. No broken bones just a huge amount of bruising on my left side and thigh. I hesitated and lost my balance. It took us almost 3 hrs to hike out of there and get to the emergency. Thanks to my 2 riding buddies who kept it all together and got me out of there...... Check it out http://vimeo.com/16680509

Dang, that look freaky. My buddies and I were just out at McNutt a couple weeks ago. Gotta love the rocks and roots! Heel up quick and get back on it.

Bike was not damaged amazingly. Had to hike some because my left side was so banged up that I could not put my foot down when I had managed to get on the bike. Some of the technical bits were too painful to ride, so I would walk, hobble and my buddies would tag for my bike. Even when I could ride it was an ordeal, going really slow and trying to stay on the bike. It was a toss up as to whether it was more painful to ride or walk!
The doc gave me morphine in the hospital so by the time I left I thought I was well enough to run a marathon. That was short-lived and for the last few days I have managed with pain meds.
Today feels a lot easier to walk so I figure I will be back in the saddle in a couple of weeks.
    Thanks for the wishes. :)

Ow! Nice video, but sorry about the fall!

I would have had to turn around or try to walk the bike over that, something. I couldn't make myself try to ride it.

Have you ridden that before or since? How did your buddies do it?

Rode up there this week again, stayed clear of that trail for now. It was wet up there, not surprising considering the rain we have had. Fun none the less. It might take a while to build up the courage to attempt that bridge.. hopefully I will be smart enough to leave it be...!
