Works Connection Radiator Braces + Oversized Fuel Tank?

    by HondaWoodsRider » Wed Feb 25, 2015 10:27 am

Bought the bike with the WC radiator braces..

Ordered an Acerbis tank and looking at them today.. I don't think the radiator braces are going to work with it.

I was wondering if I'd have the same issue with the IMS or Clarke tank?

I wonder if clever modification would allow any of them to live in harmony if none of them will work as they are...

    Nevermind

    Answered my own question.

The Works Connection radiator brace will not work with any of the oversized fuel tanks..

Going with the Unabiker guards instead.

Wanted the "Force Accessories" ones, but they're nearly double the price, very similar in design but far more affordable.

So, no issues with the Unabiker radiator guards fitting the IMS oversized tank?

Can't confirm that yet. However they do note that the guards are designed to fit with oversized tanks.

I should have them by Tuesday and installed shortly thereafter. I'll let everyone know what I find out.

    May have spoken too soon.

I came across this picture.. Looks like the Clarke tank will fit with the WC braces. Unless he's modified something to make it work.

I'm not hot on the WC braces anyway though..

Often some modifications are required for the larger tanks. Usually the modifications are not major but required.

Yeah, I had to modify the braces. I could likely dig up the photos showing what I did, but honestly the WC stuff is just not worth the money. I would give BPD a look, maybe even a phone call. Running them on a couple of other bikes. They sit just in front of the radiator and are, well, 'almost' bullet proof.

To be clear, I am not sure if they will work with an aftermarket tank on the 150R. We have them on a 250X with aftermarket tank with no issues. My thinking is as long as the aftermarket tank does not go down in front of the radiator at all, then it should work.

The Unabiker radiator brace/guards fit like a glove. I like that they're an American based company using American sourced metal too. Just wish they would have included a sticker with their product. I'm such a sucker for SWAG..
