Thank you!! I will look into the 230 & the TW200! I really appreciate your input!Hello, we don't have many lady riders here but from what you are describing your questions are really not gender specific, more size and experience specific. I'll give you a little opinion for what its worth.
All good bikes you have listed in your lineup. The 230 is naturally the heaviest and largest of the bunch. It's a pretty heavy bike. Good seat height for you and plenty of power. Good basic bike that you should be able to handle and not outgrow.
Ray on the site has a lot of experience on the 230's and can probably tell you anything you want to know about them.
Have you considered the Yamaha TW200? really fun bike that is easy to ride and bullet proof. Lot's of options available also. Kind of a cult following of those T-Dub's.
I was and have been a Honda guy forever but Yamaha has far out done Honda in later years in quality and engineering. Just my opinion of course. If you want a bike you are not going to outgrow, I would lean towards the 200cc or over, like the 230 if you want Honda.
Maybe gives you some things to think about.
Hi acampbell,
I am 5'10, both legs are on the shorter side so a bit of tipy toe riding is necessary. Either that or pull up with a high spot to put your foot down.
Old motorcrosser taught me that as their seats are higher again.
If you are an intermediate rider this may not be an issue.
That said I wouldn't want it much lower on trails and with a few tweaks they keep up pretty well especially on the twisty bits where they hold their own.
Like most fun bikes they all need better suspension and the 230F is well catered for, albeit at expense.
The advantage is you are probably perfect weight for stand springs.
Engine is simple and well proven.
My bike has not been lowered, changed link or had seat shaved.
Try a few bikes for size at a dealer. Consider if you wish to drive on the road and whether a dual sport maybe an option to consider.
That’s great to hear! Thank you for your help! Going to just think about it and most likely put a down payment on Tuesday ! Definitely glad I joined this forum! Those are bullet proof bikes! I would buy it over a Honda. They are made in Japan and the quality is top. Hold their value very well also.
Just picked up the bike!! Thank you again for your inputThat's a good idea. Give it thought and what the gut feeling is.
You cannot go wrong with a Honda 230 or the Yamaha 230. Sometimes it 's nice to let someone else put the first couple little scratches in a bike so you don't feel so bad taking a brand new bike out. Sure feels nice to save some $$$ too!
Best of luck and let us know what you go with.
