Hi all.... hope every one's having a great fall riding. Has anybody ever used a sports camcorder?.. One that attaches to your helmet, and if so how did you like it? Thinking about getting one for christmass... Happy riding...Judy

Learning@48, I have a helmet camera from www.helmetcamera.com and love the heck out of it. It attaches to my Canon MiniDV camcorder. Wonderful piece of equipment, plus it takes outstanding video.

I can vouch for Blackbird on the good quality video as I have seen the video he's taken. I am hoping to pick one up for Christmas (or thereabouts.) I'll be using mine with a Sony PC1000 camera.

i'm waiting on the samsung sports recorder sc-x210wl to come out in the next month or so. it's like the one samsung makes now, but instead of having a cord to the external lense, it is wireless (up to 15 feet away). they seem to produce some nice quality videos.

    samsung sports recorder

Hi.. I thought about the same thing until I went and check out CNET.shopper.com and read some reviews. Apparently the picture quality is really poor. All the reviews I read were bad. Just thought I'd let you know. If you do get it let me know how it works. I've decided to go with a canon Elura 100 w/ the helmet camera from helmetcamera.com. I'll let everybody know how it works.. HAPPY RIDING.. :) Judy

I ordered the 560 line. I'm sure the 480 will treat you just fine. When you do order make sure you get the X-treme kit. It comes with all the screw on cables and protection.

:) Hey did you get any lens attachments so that your view when you are riding is wider than just the trail. Or do you find the lens takes a wide enough view? Going to get the 560...ordering it today . Just thought about some accessories. Thanks for all the GREAT advise. Can't wait to use it. Happy Riding...Judy

I'm using the stock lens, it seems fine to me. If I go on another big ride I might think about ordering a wider view. Ask nedirtbikr about it, I sent him a copy DVD of my last ride. Ask his opinion on the view. :)

Obviously, you've already purchased so my opinon won't count for much...BUT, I think you'll like it. I just rewatched Blackbird's video again yesterday. Great quality picture. As long as your editing software is worth a poop, you won't have to worry about your picture quality.

nedirtbikr, I'm updating my video editing software. So the next ride should be a better quality. I'll work on some of those suggestions you gave me.
    Ride safe.

Hell, BB, you did great! Mind you, I am NOT an Acadamy Award winning director. Geez, I don't even have my own helmet cam yet (however, my class on "creative reimbursable mileage 101" is paying off. ;) )

I think what you put out was very cool. I just have a personal preference of hearing the bikes and the people (here and there) along with the music. I like it because I think it brings more of that person's personality out and I feel I get to know them a little better (albeit over a video.)

Anyway, keep it up. BTW, what editing software do you use? I have Pinnacle Studio 10 and Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. I find the Adobe capable of just about anything, but too hard to use. I use the Studio product.
