    by lesrub » Thu Jun 01, 2006 10:36 am

I'm looking for places to ride that has woods, trails, not MX tracks. I'm located in McKinney, Tx. Any ideas are appreciated. LCR

I just rode there last weekend, the camping area is closed until July 4th, you can still ride. Look at the web site and you'll see other areas that you can ride also. Have you ever been to Camp Livingston?

Here we go brother. Go to the web site I sent earlier. Look on right of the page and you will see Catahoula District, click on it. Once your there look in the middle of the page and find Camp Livingston, click on it. Here you see everything you need to know about the trails, it gives a description of the trails, a map of the trails, and also directions to the trails. Worse case you don't like it, pack up and drive to Camp Claibourne. How often do you guys ride? Also noticed your call sign is BigOl3. Just how big a boy are ya? Only ask because I'm a big boy as well and would like to know how you like that 05 450.

The above link did not seem to work....but I found it:

We may be going Tues...probably the last time for the summer...getting so hot and humid.

BigOL3......not so big, just came from my name and job. Name is Otis, which yrs ago was the name of a Scottish ceral character...Big Otis, which some friends started calling me.....then shorten to Big O. L3 was my unit number with LSP. Probably 200+ lbs with gear, and the X hauls it just fine.

I live in Lafayette, but grew up in Alexandria. I just got into riding in September. I bought a 230 to start with and I'm ready to upgrade. Only thing wrong with the 230 is that I'm 6'1" and 290lbs. The salesman didn't seem to mind selling me the bike and I didn't know any better. It's served its purpose as a starter bike, but I'm about to hand that baby down to my old lady. I made some mods to it to get more out of the bike but that . is getting expensive. You guys have fun on the trails, check out Livingston and let me know what you think. Keep it on two wheels man!

Yea, at 290#, you definitely need a 450X. After doing the JD jetting mods, it will surely haul butt

I rode my buddies 450R yesterday. That big boy moved my insides. I never got out of second gear. I gotta have one now.

If you do mainly woods/trail riding, I think you will much prefer the X.....an it will have more power than you can handle.

I don't want to limit myself to just trail riding, I'm on call every other week and don't get to ride as much as I would like. The track in Breaux Bridge is 10 minutes away, if I get called out it's not a problem, trails are over an hour away. I never ride at night, if I get caught at night I have a light that I bought from a bicycle shop that works great. 450R is also cheaper. my buddy went somewhere in Mississippi and got his for $1300 cheaper than anywhere around here, you can't beat that. And you can ride the R in the woods as well.

I live in Mckinney, and spend a lot of time in Ardmore, OK (about 90 minutes away). The lake Murray riding area has about 1000 acres of wooded riding. I have been trying to find time to check out other riding areas in Sherman / Bell Tx.
