Tried to hook up with CRF916 Guess we missed each other.
Here is the Middle creek staging area
Lots of trees down.
The start of upper sled ridge
Taking a breath
Snow???? this is sunny California
Wow!!!! Lots of snow
I don't think this does justice to how flipping steep it is.

Thanks for the report. I am going to try to make it up to Little Stony tomorrow.
Where did you run into all that snow? Were any of the trails closed?

looks like a great place to ride. Must of been a blast.
yah, pictures don't seem to give the same perspective as being there, by the angle of the trees to the hill you can get an idea.

Sorry we missed you Dave we got there at10am the traffic was so slow going up hwy20. I did park next to you (red dodge). Anyway I'm glad you had a goodtime! ARMPUMP! Can you say armpump? dam that climb up was great!! I did have to stop twice on the way up trail 9?, just to let my arms recover, then it went away and i had a blast!! I give Penny Pines a 10 rating, execpt for the down trees witch I learned to watch out for right away as I almost got clipped by the one that you have pictured. I didn't get many pictures because everytime we stopped I was recovering from the woopass Penny was putting on me.

Nextime I will leave much earlier and will be on time!

I did get a couple pics of the bikes though.

If you look at the map we did these trails in this order.
2 1 8 9 10 15 26 25 40 38 35 42 18 13 8 7 4 and finished with a mile of river bed with 7 water crossings.
Great ride.

The snow was all over. Around trail 13 and 8 it was 8" deep and went forever.

There were trees down all over but we were able to make it around all of them.

55 degrees and riding in snow. it was strange.

It was 47.8 miles. Riding time was 3 hours 7 minutes. Moving avg speed was 15.3 mph. Max speed was only 35.8 mph. Max elevation was 3953 with a total ascent of 9153 feet.
Did I mention how much I love my GPS???
David
p.s. they do a great job of keeping the trails clear. I would be there were 40 or 50 trees down that we came across. Most were out of the way and the ones there were still in the way you could make it around.
