I am really excited that we are finally able to head up there. We are going to go for a day trip on Saturday. We are meeting a buddy of mine and his family. It would be great to meet up with some other members. My buddy and I will be on our Xs and we will have two 8 year olds on 70s. Hope to see ya there. BTW, we have never been there so I have no idea where we will be. Does anyone have any good spots to camp that will share directions too??? Thanks

Well, we went up to Gorman on Saturday and it was nice. The trails were hot, so hot in fact that we got evacuated due to a nasty fire. But, up until that point everything was very nice.

I had a nasty biff going up this little hill right in front of circle canyon. I tried to down shift and the bike hit neutral and went backwards in a hurry. Luckily the bike dug in and stayed put, but I rolled quite a ways down the hill. Hips are a little sore, but no biggie. I lost about 1/4 of my oil through the air filter, the bike seems to be fine though.

Were you shifting using the clutch? If you were, next time just bang it down in that situation. Now and then will not hurt the tranny.

I upshift like that all the time. But, since I used to ride streetbikes which are almost impossible to downshift w/o the clutch, I haven't really learned that behavior yet. Thanks for the info and I will work on that. It sounds like that would have done it for me.

I have to use that technique more than I would like. I guess after installing my Rekluse, that is all I will do.
