To me, it looks like if you get up on top of Mt Pinos, get Cal City in your sites. Drive straight towards Cal City and you can't miss it.

bean canyon is a bust. if the fuzz catches you, expect a ticket. also, if you dont know where to park, the locals might jack your truck. take the 14 to rosamond, left on backus rd, when you hit dirt go about 2 miles and stage. i believe the pacific crest trail runs through there. good luck

Ha! That's the famed Bean Canyon? I’ve been riding there a few times, just didn’t know the name. Beware – a lot of that area is PRIVATE PROPERTY and Sheriff Bob (no, I’m serious) HATES us one and all. He blames us for chasing off his game (he’s a hunter & a gun nut – not that there’s anything wrong with that).

The riding is well worth it, but between Sheriff Bob & the local tweaker set, yes indeed there are some peripheral hazards. I have friends that own land there, which permits us to stage (the biggest sketch) on private property, but there are some, well lets just say ‘interesting’ characters up there.

If you stage anywhere other than private, secured property, take all the valuables out of your vehicle and leave your doors unlocked. The only thing that sucks more than a jacked car stereo is a jacked car stereo & a broken window!

If you leave anyone back at the staging area to keep an eye on things, make sure it’s either Lyle Alzado (RIP) or they’re packing heat.
