    Sugar Pine or China Wall??

    by BigD » Mon Mar 26, 2007 8:11 pm

Out past Foresthill in the foothills.....

Has anyone been to either of these places lately?? I'm wondering if they are open. Not sure how much snow they get, but was hoping to head up there soon.

Sugar pine and Georgetown are open. Theres no snow to speak of, lots of mud. I would sugest rock creek in Georgetown right now because it just reopened and the trails are A+ 8)

    Sugar Pine/Big Reservoir
The Sugar Pine/Big Reservoir is approximately 18 miles northeast of Foresthill, up the Foresthill Divide. The primary season of use is May-October each year.

Sugar Pine reservoir features two family campgrounds, one group campground, boat ramp, day use and swim area, and a trail around the reservoir for hikers and non-motorized vehicles. There is a 10 mph speed limit on the reservoir. Fishing is generally pretty good for warm water species. There is not direct access to the Foresthill OHV trail system. OHVs must be trailered to the staging areas on the other side of the reservoir.

Big Reservoir/Morning Star, located nearby, is privately operated. This smaller reservoir features a family campground, group area, small store, paddle-boat rentals, pay phone, and private (fee charged) fishing access.

Bears are common in the area, and we strongly encourage keeping food well-secured and out of sight. Do not store food visible within vehicles or campsites. Never keep food in or near sleeping areas.

Parker Flat and Sugar Pine OHV Staging are provided primarily for OHV users. Both sites have vault toilets and a loading ramp. Parker Flat is suitable for car and tent campers. Sugar Pine Staging is for RV use and day parking; tent camping is not permitted. Both provide easy access to the Foresthill OHV trail system. See the OHV page for current status of the trail system.
