My family riding group and I have been hearing a lot about San Bernadino Park and it's OHV trails. So, weather permitting we are going to check it out this Saturday. If it rains we are going to Ocotillo. Anyways, I don't know anything about San Bernadino Park and I have heard that it is huge. Can anyone give me a little help on a good place to arrive ( I am coming from Temecula) and stage? Also, it would be cool if anyone could hook us up with a electronic copy of a trail map or the location of where we can pick up a hard copy.

By the way, I must say that joining this forum and getting the advice of the members here about technical info and ride info has really helped my family and I. Thanks for all the help!

i ride out there all the time. i don't know if there's a map per se. there are trail markers and maps at the staging areas that can help you. i typically stage at the dam or before the dam across from the rail station area off the 138.

you'll go north on I-15 to the 138 off ramp and go east. you'll wind through the canyon then you'll see an opening on the left with railway track and a shack. directly across from this areas is a dirt road leading to the first staging area (there will be a OHV sign prior to this marking this staging area...it will be on the right...so keep an eye out for it.) the second staging area is on the east side of the silverwood dam.

there are easy to difficult trails and hills climbs. in most cases you can avoid the difficult if you're not up to it by following the fire road that weaves back and forth from the trails that take you up the ridges where the more difficult trails and hill climbs are.

    good luck and enjoy.

    Thanks Ken.

I was looking at the weather and it says that Silverwood is due for some snow showers. What is the more popular riding season for this area?

You can buy a map for that area at Berts in Azusa. Ask for the Lake Arrowhead map it is only $3. It's easy to get lost if you have not been there before. If you can't make it to Berts send me a PM and I'll let you borrow my map.

ARRRGGGHHHH, my wife was up near Berts yesterday. Oh well, I was planning on going up there soon anyways because I am tyring to get her a TRX 250 EX. I would love to get her a CRF 100 or 230 but she says she wouldn't like a bike very much. I called shenanigans on that cause she didn't like me very much when I met her, but I am just like a CRF and she was powerless to resist temptation.

Yeah sometimes. It's hard to listen to talk radio when I am driving to work cause I live in Temecula and work in San Onofre and the traffic on that route is either balls to the wall or a slow crawl. It makes it hard to concentrate on driving.
