Guys, I have a crf 450l and had no problem in fitting Acerbis hand guards but a friend of mine has just bought a crf300l and says the bars have a lump of steel inside preventing the expanding bolt from being fited. Any ideas before he starts drilling ?

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

I just looked at the specs on it and this is what Honda says ....... Its handlebars feature internal weights (5.8 ounces each) to minimize vibration

So what they are is for comfort/vibration dampening , so depending on the depth of the internal fill and how accurate his drilling is , he "could" drill them and put the insert in , ..... If it were me , I would go with a new/different set of bars that have a open end already , as I could not say if he drilled it , if it would weaken the bar ends , as they could have been designed to require that fill in order to remain strong ... I don't know , and I would not want to take that chance of something going wrong , if it were me .... :-~
