Hello I’m new here so basically I have a 2016 Honda CRF 250 L which I did a gutter spring removal I followed Everything and got everything put together and deck put together at rides but when I ride it makes a ticking noise and I believe it’s coming from plates that I put in which our OEM and Changed the oil and coolant and also ran the bike for at least 10 miles. Idk what to do? Help it’s my only form of transportation thanks guys

I gather you removed the judder plate from the clutch is that correct?
What parts did you put back in?
Do you have part numbers for what you put in?

Yes I removed the two springs and replaced it with a Honda OEM friction plate like I’ll have to get the part no off the clutch template but I made sure it was the same as the other friction plates. I have no engine part put in I just changed the air filter and judder spring removal put it back together with new oil and filter and new coolant my bike only had 750 miles. Ugh Also I think the noise is coming from the more from the top end of the engine.

Correct I removed the judder springs and replaced them with OEM Honda friction plate regular size as the others and no other engine mods like that. I had changed it out be I got stuck in a clay pit and I thought I had burned my clutch out and fixed it but now the top end of the engine is making some weird noises. It’s a 2016 crf250l 775 miles only will gear oil help?

That sounds more like a Timing Chain rattle/tick , it is possible when you fried the clutch when you got stuck , that you got the engine a little hot , by doing so the tensioner may have failed , what you could try is to manually adjust the tensioner , it is located on the rear of the cylinder on the right side (muffler side) basically right behind the tailpipe , by removing the screw in the center , and placing a very narrow flat screwdriver into the hole , you should find the slots , when it locks in , start the bike (be careful not to burn yourself on the hot tailpipe) , and slightly turn the adjuster each way a little bit (less than 1/4 of a turn either way) , you should notice either the ticking will get louder , or quieter , if it does not quiet back up after messing with it , then the issue might be the timing chain tensioner has gone bad , and is not holding enough tension on the chain , you replace it , and it should solve the issue , as it is a known problem with the tensioner failing on that bike ....

So, did it come from the timing chain? I've already had to change mine once, it looks like it's a common issue, but at least, since it's common, it's easy to find spares and mechanics...
