The Position of Front Brake Line

    by Ali » Sat Aug 01, 2020 1:30 am

    Hello Guys,

I am going to buy a Honda CRF250L 2020 and by the dealers near where I live, I have seen 2 different position of front brake line positions.

By one dealer the Front brake line was led behind the fork guard and by the other dealer the front brake line was led in front of the fork guard. (See the attached photo)

    My question:

in 99% of the photos in Internet I have seen that the brake line is behind the fork guard.

    1) Is it important at all if it is outside the Fork guard or between the Guard and Wheel?

    2) Do they lead it behind the fork guard only because of aesthetic or does it have any specific technical reason?

    I will appreciate your help

    Thank you

Hi Ali and welcome to the site.
Personal opinion is you don't want it hanging outside as it can catch on trail rubbish.
I would expect there is a small bracket at top of the fork guard routing it down the inside path from what I have seen in the past.
Of course you don't want it catching on the wheel either.
Have you asked the dealer that has it on the outside where Honda shows it on their assembly sheets. The bikes arrive partly assembled in a crate.
I have to think someone has assembled this incorrectly.
So unless the 2020 model is different it should be on the inside.

On the one you have seen that goes inside does it have the bracket to keep it away from the wheel?
