    2015 CRF450 Coolant Hose Issue

    by Borost4 » Tue Jul 14, 2020 12:18 am

    Hello,

I am new to dirt biking and dont know much, but my coolant hose is touching my exhaust or header pipe and was slowly smoking then it burnt through during a ride and coolant was squirting out. I dont believe the hose should be touching the header at all. I am ordering new hoses all together...any ideas how to fix? Again im a noob. Also, can I get new clamps for the coolant hose system at home depot or lowes? Thanks in advance.

Hello, the coolant hoses are definitely not supposed to be touching over even close to the header pipe. I suspect that you either have a bent header or someone changed the coolant line with longer incorrect hose. Check the fitment of the header and look up some pictures to give you reference to it's position. The clamps that you removed should be able to be used again unless that have been damaged or stripped on the thread teeth. Yes if you want to replace them a good quality "Hose Clamp" can be purchased at any automotive store and maybe Home Depot.
Hope that helps. I suggest a Honda maintenance manual is something you should look into buying. Worth every penny.
