With the ignition cover off you should see some marks on the flywheel , the T mark should point straight up and align with the mark on the case , the cam sprocket should have a dot , it should face straight up as well , and the sprocket bolts should be level like this
O O , I believe that engine has 2 timing chain tensioners , one near the bottom of the cylinder , at the rear on the left side , and one near the top of the head on the same side (ignition cover side) , the bottom is the main one for setting the basic tension and should automatically set once you loosen the adjuster bolt , then once the bike is running , if you hear any ticking , you adjust the top one on the head to fine tune it if needed .....
