g'day only around 6 months or so ago i went from my 150 to a 250R, since i got the bike i have been doing alot more trails and enduro riding then before and was thinking about changing over to the X series.
But many people have said that from the R i have now the 250X wouldn't really have the same power. So i thought about going to a 450X.
Um do you guys have any thoughts on where i should go to next. Thanks for your oppinions

if ya like the weight and power go with the 250x
you can uncork it to get more grunt, still keep the nice balance and get the E start... if ya feel you need that much more ... then 450 it up , but be ready for the weight in the trails

The weight in the trails for the 450X can be tempered with 22mm triples. It gets amazingly lighter according to those that ride them.

One (possible) consideration is would you ever consider dual-sporting your bike? When I bought my 250X I seriously never gave it a thought (and didn't realize that it is pretty easy here in BC). Being able to cruise down a few roads to hit the trails would save me from the hassle of loading the beast up. I have a feeling that none of the CRFs would hold up well if extensively highway driven, but at least the 450 wouldn't need to be pinned to maintain a respectable speed. Even if you don't plan on (or simply can't) dual-sporting, based on what you stated the 450 is my vote.

Taking into account your going to take a bath if you dump the R why not do some mods to make it more trail friendly. Gearing is cheap, and I bet there is a wealth of information here that would help.
