When to change rings on a 450 x

    by sc409 » Sun Feb 25, 2007 7:57 pm

New to the Forum and new to an 06 CRF 450x, ride in Mexico twice a week, 25 to 30 mile loops.
Have read a couple of tech magazines on general maintenance. A couple of the tech lines state to change rings on a racer at 15 hours, an enduro rider at 50 hours.

Is this accurate? I ride fairly easy, 3rd and 4th, for 30 miles. Intend on changing the oil and trans at 100 miles. Do I need to change rings at 50 hours?

    Any advice appreciated.

I love this bike, its awesome.

Not true. I have a lot more hours than that as do a lot of guys here. The time you are quoting is for hard core racing. While we ride the crap out of our bikes, we don't put the kind of stress that hard core racers do. Apologies to all who think they are hard core... :)

If it runs good, ride it! Keep up your maintenance and oil changes, ect. and you will get many more hours! :):):)
