    Stock engine guards suck...

If you are really, really rich, have a skid plate machined from Unobtanium. Its the lightest, strongest and hardest material to find...

What are you riding on that you are trying to protect your bike from?

That's good because there is no such thing as "Unobtainium".

Rotten Rob uses the carbon fiber Skid Plate. He seems to have no issues with it. He rides the rocky stuff and desert.

You might PM him and get his input...

I would definitely buy a carbon fiber plate if I was as rich as you :D Seriously though, I had an E line carbon fiber pipe guard on my GasGas for the entire 6 years I owned it without a dent .... tons of CA dez, Baja, Idaho, etc. The only problem I had was the pipe mount tabs eventually bent from hits to where the mating point at the cylinder wasn't great ... the pipe tweaked, never dented.

I'll say it again, I would buy a carbon fiber skid plate in a second if money wan't an issue. I believe it to be the best available.

I don't ride in the desert, but the CarbonFiber Works glide plate on mine has held up fine. We actually get rain here, so I can't comment on rocky type conditions.

I've used carbon fiber on all our bikes. The longest one we've had on is over 4 years old. Holds up well and it's light.

    Yeah excellent , i use the Pro-Carbon one .
Over here in the UK our Enduros are very very tight and twisty , lots of logs sticking out of the trails everywhere , rocks and sharpflint stones etc etc, i often have to throw my bike up and over logs too . I have winced a few times when ive heard things smash into the sumpgaurd but its always held up real well .
