If you're sticking with Honda, you have three MX choices:

    150R
    250R
    450R

I know nothing about the 150R, but if you were on a 230, the 150R sounds like it as handle-able, but has better rip and suspension. Probably, you'll outgrow (ability-wise) the 150 pretty quick. Depending on your abilities, the 250R and 450R are about the same as far as seat heighth. I am 6'1" and ride the 450R and find myself on my tip-toes when holding the bike up with my feet on the ground. I know the 250R has a lowering link, but not sure about the 450R.

Generally (and this is a broad statement,) because the 250R and 450R are MX bikes, they are going to "handle" similarly (with some differences attributed to weight, balance, etc.) The biggest difference between the two is that when you screw up on the 250R, it'll toss your butt about 50'. When you screw up on the 450R, it'll toss your butt about 100'. :)

It's up to your wallet and sense of adventure!

Absolutely no comparison between the two. A stock 250R (or X) will brutalize the 230 (even with the 230 power up mods.) The 230 is a great play/fun bike (I started out with one myself.) Even though I have the 450R (and wouldn't trade it for the world...well, maybe for the world, but not much else ;) ) the 230 is a great low speed, low impact bike...I miss it at times.

Anyway, in simple terms, the 250R will be three times the bike of the 230 when it comes to power, suspension, fun factor. Keep in mind, the R's are built for racing:

    - Kick start ONLY (the electronic start can be nice at times)
    - Small gas tanks
    - Stiffer suspension
    - High strung (kinda like a thoroughbred racehorse)

If you expect to be riding track "most" of the time and woods "some" of the time...get the 250R. If you expect to be riding woods "most" of the time and track "some" of the time...get the 250X. I have heard of some folks on this site setting up there X's for the track and it sounds like they don't do too bad. If you plan on becoming a hardcore track racer, get the 250R for sure.

You are more than welcome and I hope that you enjoy your new bike when you get it. Where do you live? I am sure that you will find more than enough people to go out riding with you to test it!

Used is fine! It'll be a great bike. Do your best to buy from someone reputable!
