I know way back when I was riding my 78' XR 75 that i swore to only ride red. Then had a 91' CR125 after that had a break in riding then had my 05' CRF450R. Well I just traded it in on a 07' 450EXC. I know I know I am a sell out.

Prost,

I would be curious to know why you jumped ship. What is better about your new bike and what was the big selling point since you are coming out of the closet now?

I was just thinking the other day, wondering how many people switch sides and admit to it, versus how many just purchase one of those other brands and just never log on here again.

I could never do it. I feel like I am doing something wrong by even looking at other brands when I go to the shop. It's like going to strip bars. All I am doing is looking, but still feel a little guilty.

I am 100% convinced Honda will eventually come out with an agressive, street legal, 650cc 4-stroke, and that will be my next move. Until then, I can feel good knowing I own the best offroad bike on the market to keep my content while I await the next generation of Hondas.

This is a good discussion. I am a die hard Honda fan. I have owned a 95, 98, 2000, 2002 cr 250, 05 cfr450 and 06 crf 250.
But...... what do we get out of it?
- Honda's are the most expensive of the japanese bikes.
-They come with cheesy renthal bars (yamis have pro tapers)
-The chain is weak
-Other bikes come with wave rotors
-Others have Excel rims.
Yet there is something that drives us back to Honda.
What can it be?

They are also the best built, best designed.

Most people change out their bars for personal ergonomics.

It is?? The stock MXV 520 seems like a good chain to me.

redrider911 wrote:-Other bikes come with wave rotors

Do you have deficiencies in your braking?

redrider911 wrote:-Others have Excel rims.

The stock DID rims are extremely strong. You can get Excels if you like...

They are the best...

Dependability! I have just gotten back into riding after a long break. Had an XR75 back in 74, rode the crap out of it until I was 15. Now I'm 45 and riding w/ my kids. My son has had a CRF150 and now has a 230. I have an XR200 and an XR400. These bikes take a lickin and ask for more. I don't have anything bad to say about other brands, I'm sure there are many nice bikes out there. I just don't have a reason to switch. When I find something good I stick w/ it. Good luck w/ the new bike. Guy

Let me rephrase.. If a new person where to compare a Honda and another bike. How would you sell the Honda. Telling the person that they are more reliable after they did some research on the Internet (cause everything is true, right) and found all this valve stuff. Telling them that they would have to buy different bars, because they should. All while they are looking at the price tags and the differences of the bikes

I agree, If I never owned one, I may buy something else, but having owned many, including a street bike, they have earned my loyalty. Guy

Congrats on the buy! I recently bought a 200MXC for my son (and also a backup for me.) I'm keeping my 450R 'cause I just love it, but I see nothing wrong with giving other bikes a try. If you come back to Honda...great, if not... that's great too!

Hope the bike treats you well! GO ORANGE!!!

Prost - You should feel no shame.

I've riden several KTM's and have always come away impressed.

I have no loyalties to any company (car or bike) and will buy a product that pleases me.

I've ridden over one once. I was also impressed it offered a lot more traction than a yamaha. :D

Funny but i have riden over a KTM once before and you're right ... great traction.

But i'm not sure if it was the bike or my buddy who actually offered the improved traction.
