I have just begun my quest for a CRF250R or X, and being on a budget I was wondering if there is any major difference between the '05 vs '06 models that is worth spending the extra bucks??

Welcome to the site!!!

On the R side, big differences. The 06 has a 40mm carb and twin exhausts.

on the X side, new valve seat material for added reliability.

Oh and bold new graphics!!!

Thanks I'm glad I found the site, and thanks for your response. That does answer some questions.

However I've been reading around the forum and there seems to be allot of people having trouble with "stallings" on the 250R's.

Is this something I should consider before deciding on which bike to get (the R or X) or are these cases somewhat isolated and caused by poor maintenance. Does everyone have these problems?

I have a '99 Suzuki DR650 and have never had this problem, which by the way, I'm putting up for sale as soon as I figure out which 250 I want.
So if anyone out there is interested... it's got low miles!

Never had problems with stalling on my 06crf250r bogging was easily solved with a quickshot... One of my best friends has a 05 250x he loves it, except for the fact that there is a tremendous speed difference between the two and he is constantly feeling the wrath of my roost
