    noise issues and hungry valley

    by crfbeginner » Tue Dec 19, 2006 4:35 pm

i bought a spark arrestor for my new crf250r, but not
a silencer. my 04 crf250 had only a spark arrestor
    and i was never stopped.
how hard are the rangers at hungry valley when it
comes to not having silencers, even though you have
a spark arrestor? i know the two are different, but has
    anybody been ticketed?
does this bike go over the 96dbl. limit?

Matters what day of the week you are riding.

During the week they are pussycats.

On the weekend they are Gestapo.

The spark arrestor is their main concern, if you have that you are most likely OK.

I haven't seen them pull out a sound meter, but like everything else, if you act like an idiot they'll make a project out of you.

    Sound

I have only been there on weekends.

There were times they did not check my sticker or spark arrestor or even look at the bike at all. Other times they looked it over, but only checked for a spark arrestor and green sticker. I have never seen them check anyone for sound, but I would not waste my time making the trip up their knowing they could potentially check for sound and send me packing.

Bottom line, if you really want to ride without a problem:

    - Have green sticker.
    - Have a spark arrestor.
    - Be sure your exhaust is tuned down to the legal limit.
