    Slow Cable Speed

    by sc409 » Tue Feb 27, 2007 9:20 pm

Try this utility, it measures your actual speed, Cox and most of them at night are very slow.

At 4:00 am, you probably have good speed, so much for the size of the pipe.

Based on this http://www.wugnet.com/myspeed/speedtest.asp utility, my download speed is about 1.2 Mbps and upload at 371 Kbps. This site takes much longer than most sites to respond. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's the forums or browsing the store. I run Frontier DSL, so I don't think it's just a Cox thing. The site has been fairly slow since I found it and became a member.

That maybe true but I still hate Cox and I am done with them! Anybody tried the phone company's, Phone, Sat. T.V.and Internet combo?

I have Bellsouth DSL and I find this site normally to be somewhat slower than most sites.

I think the speed of the site is traffic related. Not that I would know.

It seems that in the afternoons it slows waaaa....a...a..a.y down.

After a bunch of other surfing, I don't think it's necessarily a Cox problem. I have tried the site from a family member's home (Qwest DSL) and have asked my bro-in-law (in Ohio) to access it. I'm not sure who he uses, but he finds it slow, too, compared to other sites.

If Ken says everything is okay, i'll believe him. It's his site...he should know.

Actually Ken I think it's more a message board problem, I've noticed it as well, but only on this sites message board, the shopping cart was still working fine.

rkadair - What kind of connection do you have and where can I get it!!!

I currently run three connections to the home office...

    -4MBps Cable
    -3MBps DSL
-786K Cell connection when the two above go down...

Okay...now I don't know if anything has changed, but the board is smokin' now. Something was going on. Speed is MUCH better.

NEdirt... I was seeing the same sorta thing. But it does seem better now. I've connected over a variety of connections and systems. From both NY and NJ. There may have been a routing optimization issue somewhere between the East and the West.. assuming Ken's hostinf service is out west.
