Manual says half throttle for 25 miles, what the hell .

I'm riding on a track, so I figure half throttle for an hour.

Any ideas.

Like any new engine you need to keep the rpms above 2500 especially in the first say 15-30 minutes so the camshaft is well oiled and moving fast enough not to get flat spots. Sitting at idle is bad for new cams. The rings need to have good pressure behind them to ensure they bed in to the bore. They don't like large rpms but need the load. If riding on a flat area a good blast for say 10 seconds will provide the pressure and when you back off the oil splash cools things back down. Doing this over the first hour say should bed everything down nicely. Don't let the engine idle too long just get out and ride. The bike needs air flow to stay cool.

If you have a favourite piece of track where you know you can ride it with lots of throttle in short bursts without big revs it would be fine.

I followed your advice Aussie so good so far.

This is the first time owning or riding a fuel injected bike. What an eye opener. It picks up as soon as you touch the throttle, I wasn't prepared for that, but I liked it.

I'm totally out of shape and a little overweight, and old. I found myself out of position constantly. I even went to the detuned map, which made it easier to get used to.

I had one incident where I landed off a jump got thrown back on the seat. Which caused me grab a handful of throttle, causing the bike to stand straight up. My eyeballs almost popped out of the goggles. Plus I sucked my shorts all the way up inside my a$$.

No doubt that I scared the crap out myself but it was fun \:D/ . I think part of my problem was the suspension, it was rock hard. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me to soften the suspension. I didn't adjust it until the end of the day, but things were much better after that.

Yeah definitely no bog with fuel injection and de tuned map would help. Really good to have in slippery stuff.

Jim will give you the suspension good oil as is his forte.
