    by 250rJoe » Mon Aug 29, 2016 7:33 am

Hey guys I have an 05 crf250r I just put a fresh piston and rings in it with my cousin who has many years rebuilding motors, we think the auto decompression valve is faulty because we cant get it to start and its kind of easy to kick over any help is really appreciated thanks

If you think there is a problem - Pull the valve cover and spark plug and push it through the rotation cycle while watching the decomp's function.

First - you are talking two completely different systems. The hot start lever is a cable activated plunger on the carb that allows air in the primary circuit to start a bike in a flooded condition. The auto decomp is for starting the bike by opening the exhaust valves slightly to ease the compression on initial rollover.

I do not see why you could not eliminate the auto decomp system but why would you ? It is there for a reason and set up properly they work
    fine.

If you inspected it twice I take it that you checked the gap setting and verified it is correct? - it is working as it should ?
