Anyone Rebuild Bottom End or Replace Left Case?

    by mossman77 » Tue Apr 05, 2016 5:36 pm

I am rebuilding the bottom end of a 2004 CRF250R and just put the shift drum bearing. Now I'm wondering if I installed it upside down. I installed it with the stamped race (i.e. with letters) facing downward. I don't think I can get it back out without destroying it, so I'm hoping it works either way.

Also, for anyone who has replaced their left case, did you remove the nameplate? It appears to be removable but I don't want to bend it all up attempting to pry it off.

You could try the freezer and see if the bearing will come out easy , then just throw the case in the oven for a bit and keep the bearing in the freezer , then drop it in and your set

If your married , just tell her its a new recipe you heard about and wanted to try it , but you think its going to be to tough , if the oil smell lingers , then just take her out to dinner and on the way home get some Easy Off Oven Cleaner (Lemon scented) and give it a quick spray , and let it absorb the odor ;) .....

But i honestly don't think it makes a difference either way , it should not be offset , so i don't see what the issue would be as long as its seated all the way

And what name plate ??? (picture ??)

I'm going to leave the bearing as-is. I'm sure it's fine. I guess I'll find out pretty quick!

I'm referring to the rectangular nameplate with rivets. The original case had a nameplate but the new case has nothing.

The pliers/pincers for pulling exposed nail head can be used on the rivets. I wouldn't prise on the plate.
